Sparrows Opens Luanda Breakbulk Facility

Engineering specialist Sparrows Group has opened a new purpose-built breakbulk facility in Luanda, Angola.

The new site includes workshop, storage yard, training facilities, and office facilities and covers about 2,000 square meters in the Vila Flor area.

““Our team in Africa has been working extremely hard to get this new facility up and running and we look forward to working with our customers to deliver the quality and efficiency they rightly demand in the region,” said Stewart Mitchell, CEO of Sparrows.


Strategic Growth
 
The new location will support a broad range of turnkey engineering, equipment maintenance and training services in the country as part of the company’s expansion plans in the region.

“Africa is a strategic growth area for Sparrows and we have seen a surge in demand for local training, equipment maintenance and rental services in recent years,” Mitchell said.

The new facility will provide comprehensive equipment rental for breakbulk projects, including rigging lofts, hydraulic power units, flushing rigs, and general tooling. workshops are outfitted to cater for hydraulic and electrical components, winches and fabricated assemblies.


Local Workforce

Alongside direct project support Sparrows will also invest in training, delivering training courses including mobile crane, crane simulator, forklift and rigging training.

“We are committed to developing the local workforce and are proud to be the only company able to offer UK and EU standards of offshore crane operator and rigging and lifting training in Angola,” Mitchell concluded.
