Newbuild Joins Irish Sea Fleet

Irish Sea freight ferry service Seatruck launched Seatruck Progress at FSG Flensburg Yard in Germany.

The first of four ro-ro newbuildings, the vessel is now operating on Seatruck’s Liverpool-Dublin route. The second ferry in the series, Seatruck Power, will join this route in mid February. The third vessel, Seatruck Performance, will begin operations in the Irish Sea in April. The fourth new ferry, will be launched at FSG at the end of March and enter service in June.

The new 5,300-deadweight-tonne ro-ro vessels have lengths of 142 meters and breadths of 25 meters. Each can carry 150 vehicles.

Seatruck’s volumes in the Irish Sea rose by 58 percent to over 300,000 units in 2011. The company offers 80 sailings weekly on four routes: Liverpool-Dublin, Heysham-Dublin, Heysham-Warrenpoint and Heysham-Larne.
