Siemens Energy has secured its first wind turbine orders in Africa. Nareva Holding and Siemens signed a contract for the delivery of 44 wind turbines for the Haouma and Foum El Oued Wind Power Plants in Morocco.
The Haouma Wind Farm project will be built in Northern Morocco, approximately 30 kilometers east of Tangier, and six kilometers south of the Mediterranean coast. Foum El Oued will be built in one of the windiest areas of Morocco in the municipality of Laâyoune, nine kilometers south east of the port of Laâyoune in Southern Morocco. Both projects will have the capacity to generate 50 megawatts of electricity.
Siemens' contract includes the delivery, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines, as well as a 5-year service contract for each project, said the company in a statement.
Both wind farms are expected to begin operating by summer 2013.
