dship Straddles Urgent Australia Delivery

(Europe-Oceania) Ships Seven Straddle Carriers from Poland

dship Carriers handled an urgent shipment of seven straddle carriers from Gydnia, Poland, to Port of Brisbane, Australia, for client Kalmar.

The straddle carriers, which weighed more than 71 tonnes and measured 11 by 13 by 5.3 meters, were loaded on dship’s Mick, an F500 economic multipurpose heavy-lift ship that offers stowage flexibility and reduced fuel consumption.

Due to the urgent nature, it was less than one week between booking and loading the vessel. “It was a great opportunity to showcase our capabilities and flexibility to our clients,” said Lars Feller, global vice president of dship Carriers. “We could step in with a solid solution with less than a week between the booking of the cargo and the execution.

Once fastened, the Mick set sail on schedule and at Port of Brisbane, where the straddle carriers were discharged and delivered on time.

“Our whole organization worked together, from the commercial team to our port captains and finally the operations team. We all contributed our share and made this happen. Not so bad ... as we like to say,” Feller concluded.
