Element International Moves Gebze Locomotive

(Europe) Shipment to Vigo

Project cargo handler Element International Forwarding & Logistics has delivered a Plasser & Theurer locomotive from Turkey to Spain.

The unit had a total gross weight of 62 tonnes and was loaded at Gebze Train Station in Turkey. From there Element oversaw transport to Vigo in Spain via breakbulk carrier.

"The field size at Gebze Train Station was too restricted to properly load the locomotive on a 18-axle hydraulic lowbed with three cranes, so we had to move the machine by rail to another available train station (Köseköy) with more space. However, the exit was also too restricted for us to make the necessary U-turn, so we had to arrange the removal of the door and a mast to provide a sufficient angle for the turning,” said Bilge Guzelocak of Element.

Element International is a member of the Project Cargo Network, or PCN, in Turkey. PCN connects breakbulk members in more than 100 countries.
