Lodestar, Swire Launch Breakbulk Service

New Zealand-North Asia Route

Cargo carriers Lodestar and Swire Shipping have launched a joint breakbulk shipping service between New Zealand and North Asia.

The new route will offer key customers a monthly service carrying pulp, timber and forest product related cargo. Itinerary will include the key Asian ports of Incheon, Qingdao, Lianyungang, Onsan, Tomakomai and Kaohsiung as well as Napier and Tauranga in New Zealand.

“The service will be the foundation for future innovative solutions, to service New Zealand import and export cargoes. It also underpins our commitment to growing the shipping industry in New Zealand through strategic tie-ups with like-minded partners,” said Chris Blake, general manager, projects, Swire Shipping.

Three Saiki class 38,000 deadweight-tonne bulk vessels will be deployed in the service: Glorious Saiki, Furness Portland and Furness Southern Cross.
