Marhaba Express Starts Breakbulk Service

(MENA) Gold Star Line, Sarjak Container Lines Launch JV

Freight forwarders Gold Star Line and Sarjak Container Lines have launched a breakbulk liner shipping service under their joint venture Marhaba Express.

The new service will connect the West Coast of India and the Arabian Gulf, with calls at Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Duqm, Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi, Shuaiba, Umm Qasr, Dammam and Sohar. The maiden call of the service at Duqm saw the discharge of about 500 tonnes of steel pipes and loading of breakbulk cargo, including low-pressure separators.

“In the past we have already proven our capability to efficiently undertake the discharge of heavy-lift project cargo. However, this is the first time that PDC has demonstrated its ability to efficiently perform a loading operation of a massive heavy-lift cargo,” a spokesperson for the Port of Duqm said.

Mumbai-based Sarjak Container Lines specializes in the niche market of shipping out-of-gauge cargoes on flatracks and open top containers. Gold Star Line provides logistics and management services and is registered in Hong Kong,
