(Global) Toepfer Index Drops 15% Year-on-year
Multipurpose time charter rates have fallen further this month, slipping to less than US$6,500 in May, according to the latest research by shipping consultancy Toepfer Transport.
The firm’s Multipurpose Shipping Report index a drop in the average six- to 12-month time charter rate to just US$6,441 per day for May compared to US$7,524 in the same period last year.
The index is based on a 12,500 deadweight-tonne multipurpose /heavy-lift F-Type vessel for a six to 12-month charter period.
Headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, Toepfer Transport is one of the largest S&P brokers in the city and its research department has a particular focus on the MPP/Heavylift Market.
