Total Charters LNG Aframax

(Europe) Anticipates Delivery in 2023

Energy firm Total has chartered four Aframax-type liquefied natural gas-powered vessels. Shipowner Hafnia will deliver the first two vessels in 2023, with the remaining two supplied by Viken Shipping.

The contract follows a similar one, signed earlier this year by Total, for two LNG-powered VLCC.

“LNG as a marine fuel remains the best and immediately available solution to reduce the carbon footprint of our shipping activities. With these four new vessels, we reaffirm our commitment to expand the use of cleaner marine fuels, for a more sustainable shipping,” said Luc Gillet, senior vice president shipping at Total.

Headquartered in Courbevoie, France, Total is a multinational integrated oil and gas company and one of the seven "Supermajor" oil companies in the world.
