Mega Jack 800 Used for Core Removal
Project cargo handler ALE has delivered a unique jacking system for decommissioning of a nuclear reactor core.
The complex project involved designing, manufacturing, testing, installing and operating the core jacking system for removal of an out-of-service nuclear reactor. ALE relied on its Mega Jack 800 technology with a tailor-made steel structure.
“The construction of the customized elements of the project was made possible using our own fabrication facilities at our Hixon branch in Staffordshire, UK. The facility excels in using a variety of the latest steel fabrication techniques to ensure we can deliver a customised solution for every customer need, no matter how demanding,” said Sandy White, regional engineering manager at ALE.
UK-based ALE provides heavy-lift services focused on the oil and gas, civil, nuclear, offshore, renewables, petrochemical, ports, marine, minerals and metals and mining sectors.
