Noble Drilling Awards Transport Firm Logistics Contract
Blue Water Shipping has won a contract from offshore driller Noble Drilling for logistics and shore base support in the South American nation of Suriname.
The contract covers customs brokerage, local logistics services, domestic transport, and personnel services for the Noble Voyager drillship, which has already commenced its exploration campaign off Suriname’s Caribbean coast, Blue Water said.
The campaign includes the drilling of wells north of Suriname’s capital city, Paramaribo.
“We are thrilled to partner with Noble Drilling in this exciting project, which has the potential to unlock significant hydrocarbon resources in Suriname,” said Gerson Sporkslede, general manager of Blue Water Suriname.
“This contract is a great achievement for our team and a reflection of the hard work and dedication here and from other Blue Water offices in support. We are proud to serve our clients with excellence and look forward to the successful execution of this contract.”
Blue Water’s office in Paramaribo went fully operational in late 2023 to serve Suriname’s burgeoning oil and gas industry as well as its chemical, mining, and renewable energy sectors.
Blue Water also has Caribbean bases in Guyana and Trinidad.
According to state-led Staatsolie, the Suriname basin could hold 30 billion barrels of crude oil offshore, making it one of the most prospective unexplored basins in the world. Production sharing contracts have already been inked between Staatsolie and several oil majors, including TotalEnergies, Chevron, Shell, and QatarEnergy.
Noble Drilling is a member of the Breakbulk Global Shipper Network. Blue Water Shipping will be exhibiting at Breakbulk Europe 2024 on 21-23 May at Rotterdam Ahoy.
