Breakbulk Veterans Chair John Amos explains the program and extends an invitation
Greetings!
Breakbulk Veterans is a new initiative by Breakbulk Events & Media designed to bring together the most experienced professionals in the industry to share their stories and lessons learned. I am pleased to be the chair of this program.
At the start of the pandemic, Breakbulk asked me to write an article about one of the most challenging projects during my time as head of Bechtel’s global logistics to feature in its new weekly newsletter BreakbulkONE.
What began as one article grew to many, and I invited colleagues to contribute. These articles have been some of the most popular on BreakbulkONE. As a result, it has been decided to establish and grow the group.
Over the years I have worked on many projects that posed logistical problems during their planning and execution. Each week the BreakbulkONE newsletter has highlighted one of them by me or by a number of other breakbulk veterans in its “Breakbulk Veterans” segment. The articles have ranged from the jungles of Papua New Guinea to the Canadian oil fields. Others, such as veterans Peter Jessup and Riccardo Tippman, have written about their experiences. Looking back, the lessons learned in the past are still relevant today.
I invite you to join the group and share your own project experiences. This is an opportunity to contribute to the industry, reconnect with colleagues, promote your company’s achievements, and if you’re working as a consultant, promote that as well.
There will be a special edition of Breakbulk Veterans on Dec. 9. I hope to see you there to hear how several of the veterans tackled their project problems. Register for the webinar and indicate you’re interested in joining the group. I look forward to working with you.
