Forwarder Loaded 455 Tonnes of Components at Spain’s Port of Avilés
Spain-based forwarder Kaleido Logistics has handled some 455 tonnes of industrial components and equipment destined for a refinery project in Egypt.
The cargo was handled at the Port of Avilés in northern Spain for heavy-duty equipment manufacturer Idesa, and included a 230-tonne coke fractionator and a 90-tonne quench tower. Loading operations took two days.
“The coordination of the different services provided by Kaleido was a key factor for a successful performance: seafreight, ship agency, engineering, lashing and welding and Kaleido technology with Inklina, a system that assures that lifting in tandem is done with the required precision and calibration of both cranes for the loading and unloading operations,” the company said.
The transit to the Port of Adabiya on the western coast of Egypt’s Suez Bay took a further 12 days, where on arrival the cargo was unloaded and readied for delivery to the refinery.
