Siemens Gamesa, Ørsted Launch US Wind Project

(Americas) Haystack Wind Farm in Nebraska

Wind power developers Siemens Gamesa and Ørsted have signed their first U.S. onshore project.

The Haystack wind farm in Nebraska will have 298 megawatts of capacity and will involve installation of 51 SG 5.0-145 wind turbines. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the summer of 2021 with commissioning due by the end of 2021.

“We achieved an important milestone over the summer with the Coastal Virginia Offshore Pilot Project, and we are thrilled to add Haystack to our list of firsts … Ørsted is a key partner in our offshore business and we are excited to expand that partnership into onshore wind power,” Shannon Sturgil, CEO of onshore North America at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy.

Based in Zamudio, Spain, Siemens Gamesa is a Spanish-German joint venture and one of the world’s largest turbine manufacturers. Headquartered in Fredericia, Denmark, Ørsted is one of the largest offshore wind developers and an established onshore developer.
