Beaumont Port Awarded BUILD Grant

US$18 Million Investment in 3 Infrastructure Projects

Authorities at the Port of Beaumont have secured grant funding of US$18 million for three "significant" infrastructure projects.

The funding, awarded under the Better Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development, or BUILD, scheme, will be used partially for construction of the Main Street Terminal 1 dock rehabilitation project, as well as addition a second rail track and rehabilitation of the Grain Dock.

“Expanding the capabilities of our port is a top priority, and as we make these improvements, we know jobs and economic growth will follow. This is a huge win for Southeast Texas and it wouldn't have been possible without the work of our board of commissioners and our elected officials,” said Chris Fisher, port director.

Located 84 miles east of Houston, the Port of Beaumont is served by the Sabine-Neches Channel and connected to the Intracoastal Waterway and Mississippi River.
