SAL Moves Formosa Shipments

Offshore Project Near Miaoli, Taiwan

Multipurpose shipping line SAL Heavy Lift has transported eight breakbulk shipments for the Formosa 1 offshore windfarm near Miaoli, off the west coast of Taiwan.

The project involved delivery of nacelles measuring up to 20 meters in length and blades measuring more than 75 meters. Cargo was transported in partnership with DHL Industrial Projects aboard the Type 176 breakbulk vessels Regine, Anne-Sofie and Trina and Type 161A vessel Paula.

“Formosa has been a challenging project with critical milestone dates and right from the beginning it called for innovative solutions in order to deliver the turbines most efficiently, safely and on-time. Therefore, we are really satisfied with the good cooperation with SAL throughout the entire sales phase until final execution and delivery,” said Nicolai N. Andersen of DHL Industrial Projects.

A subsidiary of German shipping group Harren, SAL Heavy Lift operates a fleet of 16 heavy-lift vessels.
