Dual-Free, Methanol-Ready Fleet Billed as ‘Most Efficient MPVs In the Water’
Breakbulk carrier AAL Shipping has released a “first-look” film showcasing its new dual-fuel, methanol-ready, Super B-Class vessels.
The Super B-Class, designed by AAL’s engineering and commercial teams and Columbia Shipmanagement, is a 32,000 DWT heavy-lift vessel equipped with three, 350-tonne cranes. Tandem lifting with cranes 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 gives the fleet a maximum lifting capacity of 700 tonnes and an outreach of 35.7 metres. Each ship can carry up to 42,000 cubic metres of breakbulk cargo on a single sailing.
The fleet will boast a clear weather deck space measuring 146 x 26 metres and feature extendable pontoons to beef up stowage space while allowing oversized components such as wind blades to safely overhang the deck.
AAL Shipping has billed the series as the “most efficient and competent MPVs in the water”.
The first of six new vessels in the series – the AAL Limassol, named after the town where AAL was founded – is slated for launch next year. The AAL Antwerp, AAL Hamburg, AAL Houston, AAL Dubai and AAL Dammam will be delivered thereafter.
