AAL Ships HRSG Units for Singapore Power Plant

Components Weighing More Than 300 Tons a Piece Shipped from South Korea

AAL Shipping has delivered a 7,000-cubic-meter shipment of heavy-lift heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) components for Singapore’s first-ever hydrogen-ready power station.

A total of 15 units were shipped to Singapore on a single sailing from Masan in South Korea, with individual units weighing more 300 tons, the breakbulk and project heavy-lift carrier said in a statement.

Keppel Infrastructure’s 600-megawatt combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant is being built on Jurong Island, southwest of the main island of Singapore, and is being billed as the country’s most advanced of its kind. The plant will initially use natural gas as its primary feedstock and will be capable of shifting to run entirely on hydrogen. Operations are slated for start-up in the first half of 2026.

“As a Singapore-headquartered company, we are delighted to be involved in this important local project that will support the country’s international climate commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050,” said Yuko Kimura, chief representative of AAL Shipping Japan, who coordinated the shipment.

“As Singapore’s economy grows so too will the demand for reliable green energy. The energy sector in Singapore accounts for almost 40% of the country’s carbon emissions and projects like these to decarbonize electricity generation is at the core of the country’s green plan.”
