Oman’s Asyad Group has transported a 115-ton liquified natural gas (LNG) cryogenic tank from India to Saudi Arabia.

The 28-meter-long component was hauled 1,500 kilometers from northern India to Mumbai Port, a journey that took three weeks. It was then shipped across the Arabian Sea to its final destination in Dammam on Saudi’s eastern coast.

The complex breakbulk operation was carried out for Gas Lab Asia.

Project planning included detailed engineering assessments, route surveys, compliance checks and last-mile coordination. Handling the sensitive pressurized tanks demanded precise temperature and pressure control, Asyad said.

“Transporting this type of specialized cargo requires a high level of technical expertise, along with advanced operational coordination across countries,” said Juma Al Maskari, logistics director at Asyad.

“Our strategy in such projects demonstrates our ability to mobilize international resources across borders and efficiently manage high-value shipments through customized logistics solutions tailored to precise operational requirements.”

The move came on the heels of another project managed by Asyad to transport a 100-ton-plus industrial component across Oman for Al Rajhi Concrete Products. The 13.5-meter-long unit was hauled from Sohar Port to Al Rajhi’s base in Muscat.

According to Asyad, the operation required meticulous planning, specialized handling equipment and close coordination to ensure safe, timely, and compliant delivery, and was supported by Omani small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with heavy-lift expertise.

“(The operation) encapsulates our strategic ambition to provide seamless, end-to-end logistics solutions that are both agile and dependable, while reinforcing our commitment to empowering local suppliers and SMEs as integral stakeholders in projects that fuel sustainable economic advancement across Oman,” Al Maskari said.

Breakbulk Middle East 2026 is being held on 4-5 Feb at the Dubai World Trade Center.
