Blue Bell Ships EPC Cargo to Kuwait

Heavy-Lift, OOG Components Totaled More Than 8,500 cbm

Dubai-based project forwarder Blue Bell Shipping has successfully transported a batch of heavy-lift and out-of-gauge components totaling more than 8,500 cubic meters from the UAE to an EPC project in Kuwait.

The move called for multiple heavy lifts and the chartering of a multipurpose vessel from two separate loading ports in the UAE.

“EPC projects require a different style of logistics provider due to ROS (Required On-site) dates, varied suppliers, and other challenges. Our project team is specialized in managing this risk, which allows our clients to focus on their core competencies instead,” Adi Menon, Blue Bell Shipping’s commercial manager, told Breakbulk.

Prior to this move, the forwarder had just completed the shipment of over-dimensional cargo from the UAE to Houston. The shipped components included a 42-meter-long unit weighing more than 100 tons, which the client insisted was transported under deck.

“Finding a suitable vessel within the client’s budget along with the time constraints was certainly a challenge, but Blue Bell’s chartering desk persevered and found a solution,” Menon said.

Blue Bell Shipping was established in the UAE in 1987, since when the company has expanded from being a specialist forwarder in the UAE to a “serious, international project logistics player”, the commercial manager said.

The company boasts 13 offices worldwide including bases in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Turkey, Iraq, Kazakhstan, the UK, and the US.

“It’s safe to say that not only is Blue Bell Shipping now a leading Middle East project cargo specialist but has also made a name for itself internationally as a major competitor among the other large names in the project cargo space,” Menon said.

“This claim is further supported by the team’s success at the world-renowned London Heavy Lift Awards Ceremony this past October where Blue Bell Shipping walked away with the Airfreight Solution of the Year award, outcompeting many worthy competitors.”

Blue Bell Shipping has also invested in assets such as warehouses, supply bases, and distribution centers to better serve its clients, and boasts an in-house transport engineering department to carry out lifting studies, drawings, method statements, and logistics feasibility plans.

Blue Bell Shipping is a sponsor and exhibitor at Breakbulk Middle East 2024, taking place on 12-13 February at the Dubai World Trade Center.
