Engineering services firm TechnipFMC has signed a contract with oil major BP for offshore development at the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project on the maritime border of Mauritania and Senegal.
The “large EPCIC contract” will include substantial breakbulk transport and commissioning of a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit.

Subsea infrastructure
Scope of work will include initial subsea infrastructure to connect the first four wells consolidated through production pipelines leading to the FPSO. From here liquids can be removed and export gas transported via a pipeline to the LNG hub terminal where the gas is liquefied.
The contract award follows the successful completion by TechnipFMC of a previous FEED study for the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project.
MIDOR conditions finalized
Management at TechnipFMC also announced successful completion of groundwork to enable the start of its EPC contract at the Middle East Oil Refinery, or MIDOR, in Egypt.
“The contract award will be included in the company’s first quarter 2019 inbound orders in its onshore/offshore segment,” a spokesperson for TechnipFMC said.
The engineering, procurement and construction project is scheduled to last until 2022 and will involve transport of breakbulk components for a new a crude distillation unit, a vacuum distillation unit and a hydrogen production facility. The modernized complex will produce Euro V products, with a 60 percent increase in the refinery’s original capacity to 160,000 barrels per day of crude oil.
