Budapest Sign MoU with Xi’an Xianyang

Increase in Breakbulk Logistics Between Hungary and China

Authorities at Budapest Airport have signed a memorandum of understanding with Xi’an Xianyang International Airport in China to expand distribution and breakbulk logistics.

The MoU, signed during the recent Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, will intensify cooperation between Hungary and China and follows the commencement of direct connection between Budapest and Zhengzhou.

"The foundation stone was laid with the direct connection to Zhengzhou, and now it is time to further intensify our cooperation with our new Chinese partners,” Jost Lammers, CEO of Budapest Airport, said, adding that the agreement “may link additional Chinese cities to the network where direct flights are available from Hungary.”

Budapest airport will open a 20,000 square-meter dedicated freight centre, called Cargo City in 2019, expanding the hub’s cargo handling capacity to 250,000 tonnes per year.
