Casper Group to Launch Digital Division at Breakbulk Europe

Michael Shakesheff Speaks to Breakbulk Ahead of 2023 Event in Rotterdam

UK-based shipping and logistics firm Casper Group is getting ready to launch a new digital division at Breakbulk Europe 2023 in Rotterdam.

In an interview with Breakbulk, Group Managing Director Michael Shakesheff said Casper Digital would be an end-to-end soft-automation product deployed for solutions in the customs sector.

“In the last few years, we’ve really focussed on machine learning, automation and how we can use data to better understand our business and make better decisions for our principals,” Shakesheff said. “For us, Casper Digital is really exciting. We believe data, data science, automation and digital is where our direction of travel is.”

Founded by two Danes as a shipping agency and brokerage more than 150 years ago, Middlesborough-headquartered Casper Group has since grown into one of the UK’s leading independent maritime services specialists.

In addition to its shipping, logistics and chartering divisions, the group has also launched Casper Customs, an advisory services and customs clearance provider that deploys the latest digital tools to ensure cargo is kept moving around the globe.

“The free movement of goods and the delaying of goods has been a big issue, but it has also created some huge opportunities for our business and sector,” the executive said.

Casper Group, a regular visitor to Breakbulk events, is looking forward to exhibiting at Breakbulk Europe for the first time this year. For Shakesheff, the event in Rotterdam will be a one-of-a-kind opportunity to raise the company’s profile.

“We know how great Breakbulk is – last year in Rotterdam was phenomenal. For us, as visitors, we came away thinking, ‘we should exhibit!’”.

Breakbulk Europe 2023 is happening on 6-8 June at Rotterdam Ahoy. You can reserve your tickets here. Michael and his team will be exhibiting in Hall 2 Stand 2C70. Casper Group is also sponsoring the event’s Digital Special Preview.
