Paired Plate Girders Transported to Kent
Haulage firm Collett & Sons has transported six paired plate girders from Bolton to Kent in England.
The outsized girders each measured 41 meters in length and were loaded on trailers featuring a turntable on both the front and rear bogies to help navigate the route. Collett utilized six-axle and five-axle bogie trailers for the move as well as a 500-tonne mobile crane at the Severfield site.
“Utilizing these bogie trailers not only offered a 60-degree steering angle and increased ground clearance, but coupled with the added turntable technology, provided a more flexible approach and adaptability,” a spokesperson for Collett & Sons said.
Based in Halifax, England, Collett & Sons ioperates a fleet of heavy-lift trucks, trailers and SPMTs and provides breakbulk logistics throughout the UK and Europe.
