Cometto SPMTs Move FPSO Sections in South Korea (video)

288-360 Axle Lines Deployed to Shift Huge Vessel Weighing Nearly 64,000 Tons

Cometto self-propelled modular trailers have been deployed in South Korea to move six ship sections weighing a combined 63,781 tons for a floating production, storage, and offloading vessel, or FPSO.

The SPMTs were combined in configurations of 288 to 360 axle lines to move the individual blocks, the heftiest of which weighed 13,113 tons, at Samkang S&C’s shipbuilding facilities in Goseong-gun, Gyeongsang Province.

The SPMTs were sourced from the fleets of heavy-lift specialists Global, Daemyung and Anjeon.

The six sections were moved into place on a floating dock and welded together to complete the single FPSO vessel, which measures 340 meters long and 64 meters wide.

Cometto is a division of heavy equipment manufacturer, Faymonville.
