DP World, Mawani Break Ground on Saudi Logistics Park

Facility at Jeddah Islamic Port Will Be Kingdom’s Largest Integrated Logistics Hub

DP World and the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) have started work on a new US$240 million logistics park at Jeddah Islamic Port on Saudi’s Red Sea coast.

The facility is being billed as the largest integrated logistics hub in the kingdom.

The 415,000 square meter hub, located alongside the Dubai-based global port operator’s South Container Terminal, will feature 185,000 square meters of grade-A warehouse space and a sprawling multipurpose storage yard with the capacity to house more than 390,000 pallet positions.

The park, established in 2022 as part of a 30-year concession, will also feature bonded and unbonded zones alongside dry, chilled and cold storage facilities. Its sustainable infrastructure will include a rooftop solar plant installed on the warehouse that will generate 20 MW of renewable energy.

The facility will be built in two stages with a first stage launch slated for the second quarter of 2025.

“Saudi Arabia has always been a deeply important market for DP World and this milestone represents our ongoing commitment to the kingdom,” said Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, group chairman and CEO of DP World.

“Jeddah Logistics Park, strategically located on the vital Asia-Europe shipping route, will provide world-class multimodal connectivity and market access for our customers while supporting the ambitious aims of Saudi Vision 2030. This investment marks a significant step as we mark 25 years of operations in Jeddah and underscores our enduring commitment to facilitating the flow of trade.”

DP World operates a network of nearly 300 businesses in 78 countries across six continents. Its UAE division operates Jebel Ali Port in Dubai – the Middle East’s busiest shipping destination.

The port operator recently launched freight forwarding offices in the Saudi cities of Dammam, Jeddah and Riyadh, part of a wider plans to expand its global forwarding network to 180 offices by the end of 2024.
