DB Schenker Acquisition Has Strengthened End-to-End Logistics Reach

Denmark-based logistics provider DSV told Breakbulk it was stepping up its focus on project cargo and heavy-lift transport, following last year’s purchase of DB Schenker.
DSV formally completed the acquisition of the German logistics provider from Deutsche Bahn in April for about €14.3 billion, doubling its size and creating one of the world’s largest logistics companies. DSV is now expanding and strengthening its global logistics services through its newly launched DSV Global Project and Industry Solutions (DPIS) unit, part of DSV Air and Sea.
“Combining the project logistics divisions of DSV and DB Schenker has led to a perfect match,” the company said. “DPIS represents a business unit with well over 1,000 project specialists in 60 countries, and with a global annual turnover of over €1 billion. Historically, both companies have had strengths in certain regions. By combining the teams, this has increased the project logistics footprint globally.”
According to the company, DPIS is operating as a dedicated business unit with global, regional and country-level account management, and is led globally by former DB Schenker executive Daniel Wieland.
Wieland is supported by Ole Schmidt, vice president of business development and global integration, alongside a regional leadership structure spanning the Americas, the Middle East and Africa, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
DSV is an exhibitor and sponsor at Breakbulk Middle East 2026.
