Felbermayr has strengthened its heavy-lift capabilities after acquiring specialized equipment from Hoffmann, a Germany-based company focused on the transport and assembly of heavy-duty components.
The transfer, completed in mid-March, includes two lifting scaffolds with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes apiece, Sefiro self-propelled vehicles and a range of steel girders and construction components used in complex heavy assembly projects.
The move follows the retirement of Hoffmann’s founder, Olaf Hoffmann, who has stepped back from operational business.
Peter Stöttinger, managing director of transport and lifting technology at Austria-based Felbermayr, said the additional equipment was a “valuable addition” to its existing portfolio. “Particularly in the area of complex heavy assembly projects, it expands our technical capacities and allows us to support our customers even more comprehensively and flexibly in the future,” he said.
The equipment will be deployed across several parts of the group.
The lifting scaffolds will be used within Felbermayr’s engineered solutions division and by its Dutch subsidiary Jozef Hermans, while the Sefiro vehicles will also operate with the Netherlands unit.
Another group company, Wimmer Maschinentransporte, which specializes in relocations and complex installations, is also expected to benefit from the expanded fleet as the company looks to increase capacity and respond more quickly to time-critical projects.
Felbermayr will be exhibiting at Breakbulk Europe 2026.
