GAC Names New Group President

Pontus Fredriksson to Take Helm from January 2023

Breakbulk specialist GAC has named Pontus Fredriksson as its new group president, taking over from Bengt Ekstrand.

Fredriksson, who will take up the new position in January, joined GAC’s finance department in 2007 before becoming managing director of the company’s Bahrain office in 2015.

He has been GAC’s group vice president for the Americas since mid-2019.

“Pontus has consistently demonstrated a strong commercial focus and top leadership skills,” Ekstrand said. “His acumen and sound industry knowledge put him in a good position to lead the group to further successes in a turbulent environment and I look forward to supporting him in his new role.”

Ekstrand himself, group president since January 2013, will assume the role of executive co-chairman alongside long-time executive chairman, Bjorn Engblom. According to GAC, Ekstrand finishes his decade-long tenure reporting record results in recent years.

Established in 1956, the privately-owned GAC employs some 7,500 people in more than 300 offices worldwide. It is headquartered in Dubai.

GAC will be exhibiting at Breakbulk Middle East 2023, taking place on 13-14 February at the Dubai World Trade Centre. To reserve your tickets, click here.
