GAC Appoints Fredriksson VP Americas

Strengthens Position in Nordics

Shipping and logistics group GAC has appointed Pontus Fredriksson as group vice president, Americas.

The appointment follows the retirement of Bob Bandos, who was part of the group for 15 years and oversaw the opening of GAC companies in Panama, Guyana and Uruguay as well as the addition of new branches in Brazil.

“Bob has been at the helm during an important period of expansion for GAC in the Americas … I’m very excited to join our colleagues, customers and suppliers in the Americas region. I look forward to bringing my experience from Europe and Middle East to the Americas,” Fredriksson said.

A graduate of Stockholm University, Fredriksson has served in a variety of finance and managerial roles in the Middle East, most recently at managing sirector of GAC Bahrain for nearly four years.

SwedAgency Acquisition

GAC has meanwhile continued to strengthen its position in Fredriksson’s native Sweden with the takeover of SwedAgency’s ship agency activities throughout the country.

“Together, we look forward to expanding our services in Sweden, especially in the Stockholm/Mälardalen region. As specialists in the provision of ship agency and husbandry support at all the country’s ports, we’re committed to continuing delivering exceptional levels of service and local knowledge that our clients can rely on,” said Johan Ehn, GAC Sweden’s managing director.

The move is expected to boost the group’s operational presence in and around Stockholm and extend its reach as far as Oxelösund.

Nordic Expansion

This Nordic expansion follows the opening of a new branch in Kalundborg, Denmark, designed to serve the dry bulk and liquid bulk sectors. Located 100 kilometers west of Copenhagen, Kalundborg will handle cargoes for larger projects for industry players such as Equinor, Yamal LNG and Chevron.

“This latest new office means we can provide our tankers and other customers with even more round-the-clock locally based knowledge and expertise – and faster than ever. Kalundborg is a key strategic location and opening there is the latest step in our ambitious expansion plan and determination to provide optimum service and efficiency,” said Sebastian Jonsson, general manager of GAC Denmark.

Dubai-based logistics group, GAC expects to provide project logistics, offshore support, ship agency, husbandry, bunker fuel supplies and dry-docking as well as lay-ups and repairs for rigs and vessels.
