Seven 40-Foot Containers Used To Ship Cold War Artifacts From Denmark

GEODIS has transported 36 authentic sections of the Berlin Wall from Denmark to a museum in the U.S., a project that demanded months of planning and execution.
Each concrete block weighed close to 3,500 kg, with the 126-ton shipment ultimately filling seven 40-foot containers.
The operation required five months of technical and administrative preparation, coordinated by the company’s Ocean Freight Export team to ensure the historic artifacts arrived intact after their transatlantic journey.
“It's not every day we get to move such powerful pieces of history,” said Christian Hansen, GEODIS Ocean Export manager.
GEODIS will be exhibiting at Breakbulk Europe 2026.
