GEODIS Engineers Alternative Route to Uzbekistan

Forwarder Moves Chimgan Resort Equipment Via Multimodal Transport Solution

GEODIS is rolling out a tailored multimodal solution to support French industrial group MND in delivering equipment for the four-season development of the Chimgan tourist resort in Uzbekistan.

Shipments are set to begin this March, with the cargo departing multiple European sites bound for the resort, located in the Tchatkal mountains northeast of Tashkent. The equipment includes chairlifts, gondolas, an alpine coaster, ziplines and other installations critical to establishing what is slated to become one of Central Asia’s leading mountain tourism hubs.

GEODIS has already managed 92 shipments over the past year for the project, including four exceptional convoys transporting cable lifts and infrastructure to Uzbekistan. The new phase, handled by the company’s European Road Network division, continues that partnership as volumes ramp up ahead of construction milestones.

With transit routes through Russia and Iran off the table, GEODIS has engineered an alternative corridor combining road and sea transport. Equipment will be moved from several European sites through the ports of Sète in France and Trieste in Italy, then shipped via Türkiye and across the Caspian Sea to Uzbekistan. Transit times will average 30 to 45 days.

Marc Vollet, executive vice-president of European Road Network activities at GEODIS, described the project as a showcase for building “tailor-made supply chains where traditional routes are no longer available,” adding that the company’s role is to secure flows, control lead times and support industrial clients on strategic international developments.

GEODIS will be exhibiting at Breakbulk Europe 2026 on 16-18 June.
