Groupe Cayon Moves Gennevilliers Transformer

Barge by Seine for Substation Upgrade Project

Heavy-lift specialist Groupe Cayon has transported a transformer unit from Northern France to Gennevilliers for a substation upgrade project.

The outsized unit, weighing 85 tonnes and measuring 6 meters long, was transported by river barge along the river Seine over the course of three days. Upon arrival in Gennevilliers it was transferred to low bed semi-trailer and self-propelled vehicle.

"As a six-axle version with power pack, the Cometto MSPE picked up the transformer on arrival at the quay. Thanks to the overall length of just 11.45 meters, we had no problem getting to the ship's mooring position," said Matthieu Lapczynski, project leader for special transport at Groupe Cayon.

Based in Chalon-sur-Saône, France, Groupe Cayon provides breakbulk and project cargo services throughout France as well as storage solutions with more than 60 000 square meters of warehouse space.
