500-Tonne-Capacity Unit Deployed To Nordsee One Windfarm
German shipping and logistics group Harren & Partner has beefed up its fleet of offshore construction vessels after acquiring the 12-year-old jack-up rig, Thor.
The 500-tonne-capacity dynamic positioning, or DP2, vessel is designed to carry out offshore windfarm maintenance and turbine installations. The unit boasts a high-outreach crane and a fully-equipped accommodation block for up to 56 workers.
Thor will first be deployed for major component exchange services at Nordsee One, a 332-megawatt wind energy project in the German part of the North Sea, before being transferred to other offshore windfarms later in the year.
The acquisition boosts Harren’s offshore construction fleet to four vessels.

Harren & Partner, based in Bremen, is the parent company of SAL Heavy Lift, SAL Engineering, Intermarine, Combi Lift, Harren Tankers and Harren Bulkers.
The group operates a fleet of more than 80 heavy-lift carriers, bulkers, tankers, dock ships, container feeders, tugs, barges and offshore vessels.
Heavy-lift venture Jumbo-SAL-Alliance will be exhibiting at Breakbulk Europe 2022, the world’s largest event for the breakbulk and project cargo industry, taking place this year on 17-19 May in Rotterdam.
