KestrelMare Will Enjoy Access to JSI Alliance’s 65-Strong Heavy-Lift Fleet

Harren Group has joined forces with shipping and logistics companies Kestrel Italia and Intermare to form a new joint venture (JV) in Italy specializing in project cargo and heavy-lift services.
The Genoa-based JV, called KestrelMare, will be a one-stop shop for “all types of project cargo and heavy-lift” throughout Italy and the Mediterranean, and will act as the representative office in Italy for Harren Group and its brands SAL Heavy Lift, Intermarine and Combi Lift as well as for the Jumbo-SAL Heavy Lift-Intermarine (JSI) Alliance with Jumbo Shipping.
KestrelMare will enjoy access to a global fleet of heavy-lift vessels including the 65 ships operated by the JSI Alliance.
“KestrelMare is taking over all Intermare and Kestrel Italia business units, merging them under one brand,” said Adolfo Herrero, general manager at Kestrel Italia. “The new team combines experienced staff from both former companies, allowing us to offer much broader, more dedicated support to all our customers.”
Martin Harren, CEO of Harren Group, said Italy was a market with a “very bright future” for project cargo and heavy-lift. “Establishing KestrelMare is such an important strategic step for us. It provides new perspectives and opportunities in Italy and the entire Mediterranean region,” Harren said.
“We’re already very familiar with Kestrel. For many years, they were the Italian agent for our friends and partners at Jumbo. KestrelMare is a real powerhouse in the international shipping industry – making the venture between the three brands a perfect match. All three companies have a long, shared past. Now, they can look forward to a bright future together.”
Bremen-based Harren Group’s portfolio of companies also includes SAL Engineering, Atheleon, Harren Tankers, Harren Crewing, Harren Ship Management and Harren Bulkers.
