LASO Completes Complex Move in Portugal

Extensive Planning and Coordination Ensure Safe Delivery of Large Industrial Tank

Heavy-lift operator LASO Transportes has successfully completed the delivery of a large industrial tank to Estarreja, northern Portugal.

The operation to transport the seven-meter-wide, five-meter-high component required extensive planning over the course of a year involving technical studies, coordination with local authorities and route adjustments to ensure safety.

A specialized lowered unit, spanning 23 meters in length, was used to navigate the tank through the country’s winding roads. Infrastructure modifications and police escorts were arranged to facilitate the move, underlining the challenges posed by the cargo’s size.

“This project highlighted LASO's characteristic teamwork,” said the head of LASO’s operational department. “Good communication between the drivers and rigorous planning were essential to guarantee flawless transportation, once again demonstrating the experience and professionalism of our team.”

LASO, with its headquarters in Milharado, north of Lisbon, said the move demonstrated its capacity to handle large-scale operations, reinforcing its standing in the special and oversized transport sector.

LASO will be exhibiting at Breakbulk Europe on 13-15 May in Rotterdam.
