Laso Invests in Tower Adapter Equipment

Four New Units from Nooteboom Boast Payload of 120 Tons

Portuguese heavy-lift operator Laso Transportes has acquired four new tower adapters, doubling the number of the specialist equipment in its fleet.

The units boasting a payload of up to 120 tons are manufactured by Netherlands-based trailer designer Nooteboom and follows Laso’s purchase earlier this year of four tower adapters from Goldhofer.

Tower adapters, designed for the safe transport of heavy tower segments, feature hydraulic lateral displacement to facilitate positioning during the loading and unloading of cargo and an aluminum platform with an access ladder and an integrated swiveling device for more complex maneuvers.

“With this equipment, the capacity to transport segments of all types of wind components with greater precision, efficiency and safety will be reinforced,” Laso said.

Laso, with its headquarters in Milharado, specializes in road transport services for heavy and oversized cargo. The company's 1,300-strong workforce are based in offices in Portugal, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, France, Slovenia, the UK, Mozambique and Morocco.

In July, the company announced the launch of a new Italian office in the city of Milan. It has been operating a branch in Florence since 2019.
