Maersk Retires Safmarine, Damco Brands

 
Shipping line A.P. Moller – Maersk said it plans changes to its ocean and logistics organization to streamline operations, including retiring its Safmarine and Damco brands by the end of 2020.

The brands will be integrated into Maersk’s logistics and services products. Maersk said it will also simplify the organization's structure, converging back office function of Maersk and Hamburg Süd into more customer-centric teams.

Taking these steps are key to accelerating our transformation,” said Vincent Clerc, CEO of ocean and logistics at Maersk.

Headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, Maerskis is the world's largest container ship and supply vessel operator. The group notes that as it uses its own assets to offer unique value propositions, and it will no longer pursue the ocean full-containerload product, or non-vessel-operating common carriers, as a general offering.
