Azobé Hardwood Replacement Across Operations
Heavy-lift expert Mammoet is to replace hardwood with sustainable bamboo jacking beams across all its operations, following successful trials.
The switch will result in the firm substituting bamboo for its current jacking timbers made from azobé hardwood. Following a collaboration with technology developer MOSO, Mammoet perfected a new beam, composed of bamboo and resin composite which provides increased stiffness and strength and precision dimensions.
“Mammoet will only order bamboo jacking beams from now on. As the global market leader, Mammoet realizes there is a need to use resources responsibly to minimize our impact on the environment,” said Jan Kleijn, Mammoet’s chief operating officer.
Headquartered in Schiedam in the Netherlands, Mammoet provides a range of services from transportation and logistics planning to heavy-lift and crane rental.
