(Global) MSC Names Toft CEO



MSC has appointed Soren Toft as chief executive officer, overseeing the shipping group’s global cargo businesses including ocean liner and logistics, and reports directly to founder Gianluigi Aponte and Diego Aponte, MSC group president.

“With his 25 years of experience in leadership roles at Maersk, and his comprehensive understanding of the future of the container shipping supply chain, Soren is the ideal match to help lead MSC into the future at the helm of our family company,” Diego Aponte said.


Delta Appoints VP Cargo
 
U.S. airline Delta has appointed a new vice president of cargo, promoting Rob Walpole to oversee the shift of the group’s cargo business to its commercial business portfolio.

Walpole reports to Steve Sear, executive vice president of global sales, who saidd, “Walpole is well equipped to lead the Delta Cargo team on a path of continued growth and innovation.”


Siemens Gamesa

Wind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa also announced a restructure of its executive team with Marc Becker appointed as CEO of Offshore. Becker will start his new role on Feb. 1 and will be based in Hamburg, leading a  revitalized team to “turnaround the business” and deliver long-term sustainable growth and profitability.


Hughes joins TIACA 

The International Air Cargo Association, or TIACA, has appointed Glyn Hughes to the newly created role of director general. Hughes moves from his current role as head of cargo at not-for-profit International Air Traansport Association.
 
Hughes said: “Over the past year TIACA has fundamentally transformed itself, which will enable the association to serve its current members better with greater relevance and attract new ones. I fully support TIACA’s new direction and its unique position to unite and represent the entire airfreight industry."
