460-tonne Vessel Moved by Barge
Freight forwarder Pasquinelli Ennio has delivered a yacht from Chioggia to Ancona in Italy.
The breakbulk vessel was transported by barge and weighed 460 tonnes in total. Measuring 60 meters in long, it was maneuvered using 33-tonne Bollard Pull 2010HP tugs.
“In order to counter unexpected waves created by the passage of tourist motorboats, we decided to further stabilize the barge by sinking pylons and fixing the barge to the bottom. This also allowed for more steady and safe passage from the quay to the barge by avoiding oscillations that might have affected the security of the operation.,” a spokesperson for Pasquinelli said.
Based in Pescara, Italy, Pasquinelli is a member of the WCA Projects network, which connects breakbulk carriers in 188 countries.
