Offshore contractor Penta-Ocean Construction has announced plans to expand its heavy-lift fleet with an order for a new installation vessel.
The agreement with PaxOcean Group is for a GustoMSC-design self-elevating platform, equipped with a 1,600-tonne main crane. The vessel is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2022.
“We believe this new SEP will make a significant contribution to Japan’s offshore wind power generation expansion,” said Takuzo Shimizu, CEO of Penta-Ocean Construction.
The self-elevating platform is to be fabricated PaxOcean’s shipyard in Batam, Japan.
