Port Le Havre Unloads Gantries

Authorities at the port of Le Havre in France have overseen unloading of giant new gantries.

The complex breakbulk move was organized by Generale de Manutention Portuaire (GMP), a joint venture between DP World and shipping line CMA CGM, and is part of comprehensive upgrade work at the port. GMP – PortSynergy already operates 10 gantries at Le Havre’s port 2000 terminals and plans 700 meters of additional linear quay space.

"The modernization of port equipment at Le Havre's container terminals complements other projects, including dockside electrification, initiated to address the new generation of container ships and offer our customers the best level of service. The completion of Port 2000 will allow us to increase our capacity to handle container volumes and strengthen HAROPA's position in international port and maritime corridors,” said Baptiste Maurand, managing director of HAROPA - Port du Havre.

Haropa provides a strategic alliance for ports along the Seine, comprising the ports of Le Havre, Rouen and Paris.
