Protranser Ships Project Cargo from China to Germany

Industrial Tanks Weighing 103 Tonnes Destined for Hydrogen Project in Leipzig

Shanghai-based Protranser has handled the “door-to-door” delivery of three oversized industrial tanks from eastern China to a hydrogen plant project in Leipzig, Germany.

The components, which weighed 103 tonnes a piece and measured nearly 32 metres in length, were first collected from their manufacturing facilities and trucked to Zhangjiagang, a port along the Yangtze river. A multipurpose vessel was chartered to ship the cargo to the Port of Cuxhaven on Germany’s North Sea coast.

A barge was then chartered to sail the units from Cuxhaven to Leipzig before final mile delivery to the jobsite.

According to Protranser’s marketing manager Leo Liu, the project team faced a number of challenges, including trying to secure drivers to transport the tanks to Zhangjiagang during the Chinese New Year holidays, a time when businesses slow and families reunite.

“But we made it and delivered the components to the jobsite safely and on time,” Liu said.

Protranser was founded in 2005, and boasts a 100-strong workforce based in 10 regional offices throughout China. Its latest office was launched in 2021 in Changsha, southern Hunan Province.

Protranser will be exhibiting at Breakbulk Europe 2023, happening on 6-8 June at Rotterdam Ahoy. To reserve your tickets to the world's largest gathering of breakbulk and project cargo professionals, click here. You can meet the Protranser team in Hall 1, stand 1B41.
