Rezayat Sparrow Expands Fleet of Liebherr Cranes

Acquisitions Boost Saudi-Based Firm’s Maximum Lifting Capacity to 700 Tonnes

Saudi-based heavy haulage specialist Rezayat Sparrow has beefed up its crane fleet after taking delivery of 16 new mobile cranes from Liebherr.

Rezayat Sparrow, part of the Rezayat Logistics Group, acquired two rough-terrain cranes – an LRT 1090-2.1 and an LRT 1100-2.1 – and 14 all-terrain cranes, including an eight-axle LTM 1650-8.1 capable of lifting up to 700 tonnes, 200 tonnes more than its predecessor, the LTM 1500-8.1.

The keys to the new machines were handed over at the Bauma trade fair in October.

“The higher capacity of the LTM 1650-8.1 is a logical complement to our two LTM 1500-8.1 cranes, which have proven to be the outstanding cranes in our fleet since 2004,” said Ray Cron, general manager at Rezayat Sparrow. “At the same time, the new 8-axle can do even more.”

According to Cron, the new machines will mainly be deployed in Saudi’s booming construction, petrochemical, mining and renewable energy industries.

The executive told Breakbulk earlier this year that the project landscape in the Middle East’s largest economy had a “real vibe”, as the kingdom's Vision 2030 economic diversification plans translate into massive cargo-carrying opportunities for logistics.

Companies such as Liebherr are capitalizing on the growing demand for heavy-duty equipment.

The Swiss-German manufacturer said in December it had also supplied 18 mobile cranes to Saudi crane and transport company Gulf Haulage Heavy Lift Company. The deal for six rough-terrain and 12 all-terrain cranes was also signed off at Bauma.

Rezayat Logistics Group, which also owns Crescent Transportation, and Liebherr Maritime Cranes, a division of Liebherr Group, will be exhibiting at Breakbulk Middle East 2023, taking place on 13-14 February at the Dubai World Trade Centre in the UAE.
