Take-Over of MTG to Expand Rhenus’ Road Freight Network
Germany-headquartered Rhenus Group is forging ahead with its expansion strategy after announcing the take-over of Mannheimer Transport-Gesellschaft, or MTG.
The acquisition will enable the transport specialist to grow its road freight network and strengthen its footprint in central and southern Germany and in particular the area around the cities of Mannheim and Ludwigshafen – a key region for the country’s chemical sector.
Ludwigshafen is home to BASF, the world's largest chemical producer.

MTG was founded in 1927 and boasts a 150-strong workforce. Its core business, which generates turnover of EUR 30 million per year, includes domestic and international shipments of general cargo, part loads and complete loads.
The acquisition will take effect retrospectively from 1 January 2023, subject to regulatory approvals.
MTG will continue to operate under its own name.

Rhenus this year has already bolstered its position in the Balkans after acquiring Croatia-based logistics provider, Trans Integral. The logistics specialist said in April that the take-over would allow it to enter Bosnia and Herzegovina, where Trans Integral’s newest office is located.
Rhenus Project Logistics USA, a division of Rhenus Group, will be exhibiting at Breakbulk Americas 2023, taking place at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.
