Robert Wynn Delivers Vintage Launch
Specialist shipping company Robert Wynn and Sons has transported a Royal Navy Rescue Motor Launch from Southampton to Hartlepool in the UK.
The 81-tonne vintage RML 497 vessel dates from 1941 and was loaded onto the firm’s semi-submersible vessel Terra Marique for the 400-mile sea passage up the UK’s east coast. Upon arrival it was jacked up using a special 16- point jacking system.
“Not without its challenges, the Wynn’s team and our partners planned all aspects of the journey meticulously and executed that plan perfectly. It’s been a privilege to be involved with The National Museum for the Royal Navy’s restoration plans and play a small but significant part in Rescue Motor Launch 497’s long and distinguished history,” said Sally Weston, project manager at Robert Wynn & Sons.
Based in Staffordshire, Robert Wynn and Sons provide marine services for the transportation of heavy and abnormal loads across Europe.
