Concessions Signed to Operate and Develop Four Existing Port Facilities

Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT) has secured 20-year concessions to operate and develop four existing port facilities on the Red Sea, expanding its footprint into multipurpose terminal operations.
The agreements, signed with the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), grant RSGT operational responsibility at Jeddah Islamic Port, King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu, Yanbu Commercial Port, and the Port of Jazan. The concessions add 13 kilometers of quay and 3.3 million square meters of terminal space to RSGT’s portfolio.
At Jeddah Islamic Port, RSGT intends to consolidate general cargo and roll-on, roll-off (RoRo) terminals into a single multi-purpose terminal, while at King Fahd Industrial Port, container operations will be introduced alongside existing bulk activities. The deals at Yanbu and Jazan cover general cargo and dry bulk operations.
A newly established multipurpose terminals (MPT) unit will manage all non-containerized cargo, including RoRo, general cargo, project cargo, bulk commodities and livestock.
RSGT plans to invest at least 1.6 billion riyals – about US$418 million – during the concession period, with 700 million riyals earmarked for upgrades in the first five years. The company said investments will focus on infrastructure modernization, new equipment and the deployment of smart technologies.
Expected average annual throughput across the new terminals includes three million tons of general cargo, 13 million tons of bulk cargo, 13.5 million tons of liquid bulk, 710,000 vehicles and 8 million head of livestock.
“Our expansion into multi-purpose terminals marks a milestone in the evolution of our strategic vision,” said Jens Floe, CEO of RSGT. “The additions to our portfolio and operations reflect our ongoing commitment to facilitating global trade, advancing economic diversification, and reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s increasingly important role in global supply chains. This investment also lays the foundation for the next phase of our growth strategy, as we expand our international footprint across all cargo segments.”
