Fly-Jib Developed with TTS-NMF
Multipurpose shipping line SAL Heavy Lift has expanded its heavy-lift capabilities with the addition of a new crane boom extension.
The Fly-Jib extension is designed for the cranes of SAL’s Type 183 vessels Lone and Svenja. Sister company SAL Engineering worked intensively with crane maker TTS-NMF to design and develop the Fly-Jib.
“Our Fly-Jib has long been on our wish list, but when a client recently approached us with the requirement to support on driving piles into the seabed for an offshore wind project, and the piles being so long that it was otherwise not possible to upend them for installation, we saw the opportunity to realise this long term dream,” said Sune Thorleifsson, head of marine projects, SAL.
A subsidiary of German shipping group Harren, SAL Heavy Lift operates a fleet of 16 heavy-lift vessels with combined crane capacities up to 2,000 tonnes. The firm is a member of the Cargo Equipment Experts network.
