Complicated Move Carried Out Using Cometto SPMT

German crane and heavy haulage specialist Autokrane Schares has successfully moved a massive 430-tonne bridge at Plaidt in Germany’s eastern Rhineland Palatinate state.
The complicated move to create a railway overpass was carried out using one of module manufacturer Cometto’s 24-axle-line self-propelled modular trailers, or SPMTs. Technicians guided the bridge onto its concreate foundations using remote control.
Cometto, owned by Luxembourg-based Faymonville Group, produces SPMTs with a payload capacity of up to 15,000 tonnes. The vehicles are used in industries such as heavy duty transport, heavy industry, shipbuilding, oil and gas, offshore technology and project logistics.
